Weekly Musings of the 20th

Good Friday morning to our friends and family.  This flag was a Father's Day gift to hubby from DD the 2nd and since we live in Ti-Cat nation it just tickles him no end and that we shall always love our Ottawa teams since it was our home for so long.

Quiet week here, which has been really nice.  We still are living with the most stubborn cat.  We had to make a change in Tigger's beds (she has two) as they were worn through and one had something that really bothered her.  Her under-the-bed was was deemed acceptable and she will sleep in it but the livingroom one has not met with her approval and she has stubbornly ignored it to the point she will sleep on the floor beside it.  We have tried two kinds and both do not have the flannel material on the inside and therefore she will not touch it.

So, I may take a look for a flannel inside one in one more place today but if they don't have one that will be it and we shall just have to see if she ever accepts the one she has.  Not that she doesn't have a huge number of places that she considers 'hers'.  We, honestly have never, ever had a cat like this one.

I once didn't put her bowls in the right place and she sat there looking like this until I got the message and moved them into the right spot.  To say she doesn't like change is an understatement - LOL.

My book this week is another of a new favourite author called Michal which is book 1 of a three book series.

'As the daughter of King Saul, Michal lives a life of privilege--but one that is haunted by her father's unpredictable moods and by competition from her beautiful older sister. When Michal falls for young David, the harpist who plays to calm her father, she has no idea what romance, adventures, and heartache await her.

As readers enter the colorful and unpredictable worlds of King Saul and King David, they will be swept up in this exciting and romantic story. Against the backdrop of opulent palace life, raging war, and desert escapes, Jill Eileen Smith takes her readers on an emotional roller-coaster ride as Michal deals with love, loss, and personal transformation as one of the wives of David. A sweeping tale of passion and drama, readers will love this amazing story.'

This author is really gifted at taking chapters from the bible and making it bigger and more detailed in a way that does not take away from the bible but gives you so much more to think about.  I am about to begin book 2 in this series this week and will let you know but I expect to love it just as much as the previous books I have read by Jill Eileen Smith.  I am so glad that I discovered her.

Today I am mailing off that craft kit to my niece, I told her to send me pictures of it when it is finished and tomorrow hubby and I are going over to DD the 1st storage locker to meet the movers who will clear it out and take her stuff to her.  I am sure that she will be so happy to truly unpack all her stuff once more.  After all this time I bet there are things she has forgotten she had.  On Monday I will be able to call the storage company and let the locker go and close the book on that expense for DD.  Which I am sure we shall both be happy about.

And so time to get a move on to do those little errands today, wishing you all a great weekend.

Weekly Musings of the 13th

So, it is Friday the 13th which tells those of us who are not into motorcycles and don't live in Dover to just stay away from that area.  I can hear the motorcycles that are heading through to Port Dover, many do stop here on the way so business in Simcoe do pretty good too.

It will be all on the local news so we shall catch the highlights then.  We, on the other hand are heading in the opposite direction to do some errands.  Should be not too bad that way.

We are done and done when it comes to our spring cleaning which I am very pleased about.

When we first moved here in 2013 we could do the kitchen in one day but now we split it all up and do the stove and fridge on their own days.  Just not up for a full clean in one day, it now takes about 5.  Small area but hey no one is timing us either - LOL.

So all in all a great spring cleaning and everything is where we want it once more.

Now onto the second of the two book series that I mentioned last week.

'“And a sword will pierce your own soul, too.”

The meaning of those prophetic words to Mary are now painfully clear as Jesus’s journey to the cross begins. Told from the perspective of five individuals—a priest, former tax collector, two fugitives, and daughter of a Jewish rebel—
Swords in the Desert follows Jesus through the Gospel of Luke’s harrowing final twelve chapters.

As the shadow of the cross looms ever closer, these intertwined stories unfold with stunning vividness, revealing the human cost of divine sacrifice. Experience the cultural tensions, political intrigue, and spiritual warfare that defined first-century Judea in ways you've never imagined.

Swords in the Desert doesn't just retell the greatest story ever told—it plunges you into the hearts and minds of those who witnessed it firsthand. From the anguish of Gethsemane to the triumph of the empty tomb, this novel allows you to experience familiar stories with fresh perspectives and emotional depths. This powerful retelling will challenge your understanding and deepen your faith.'

Really well written and very thought-provoking. I very much enjoyed the pair of them.  Getting them through BookBub didn't hurt either.  Very much worth the read.

And so that was the week, mostly cleaning and some errands but spring cleaning is done - woohoo.

This quote had me thinking about this and how true it is -

We really didn't know.

Have a lovely weekend whatever you get up to.

Weekly Musings of the 7th

Hello my friends and family.  This week was mostly the diningroom and livingroom spring cleaning and the start of the kitchen.

I did manage to stay off peeking back at Facebook all week this week.  I am stunned that I managed it because I had been a daily (nearly all day) visitor of Facebook for many, many years.  Taking the Messenger and Facebook app. off my phone and tablet as well as removing the bookmarks made it easier to do so.  Although I was going to peek in Messenger when I saw I would have to log in to do so and told myself that was too much of a bother - LOL.

While spring cleaning we took a look at our streaming services, mostly because the Canadian Football League season has begun and hubby and I love watching them.  TSN is the only streaming service for it here in Canada and being owned by Bell Canada is one of the more expensive services but since two of our services have our favourite shows were done for the season we cancelled those and added TSN so we can watch the football games.  They have cancelled each other out so there is no extra cost and we have a leaner selection and are actually watching new shows that we had noticed but with our main shows hadn't had any chance to watch, we can now.

So, with the Discord app both my phone and our computer I can keep in touch with our family in Florida and they keep in touch quicker than Facebook so that is really nice too.

We started in the kitchen with the under the sink cupboards which had a really bad time when the plumber had to clean a horrible stinky mess and leak and even though we cleaned right after that mess it needed a freshening up as well the drawers, the stove is next and since that it a day job in itself the rest will be done next week and then we should be finished with spring cleaning.

In books I read a two book series and the first one was - Thrones in the Desert

'THRONES IN THE DESERT does what no Biblical novel has done before. It weaves the story of five fictional characters through twelve chapters, with each chapter corresponding to the first twelve chapters of the Book of Luke.

The five main characters--a tax collector, a slave, a guard in Herod's Palace, a Pharisee, and the daughter of a Zealot--have all placed a false god on a throne in their life, only to see it overturned by the rabbi from Nazareth.

"He has brought down rulers from their thrones. He has lifted up the humble," said Mary, the mother of Jesus, to her cousin Elizabeth, when both women were expecting children of great promise. In THRONES IN THE DESERT, a young girl named Eliana overhears Mary's proclamation but is unaware of the approaching storm in her life--and the Messiah's ability to calm storms.

Follow Eliana and four others as they encounter Jesus. Their stories will challenge you to ask: What have you placed on the throne in your life?'

Very good book, in my opinion and I couldn't wait to get onto the second book.  More about that one next week.

So, that was the week, lots of cleaning, online purging, errands and reading.... plus enjoying the beginning of the CFL season... Go Red Blacks!

Seriously, hubby said the only place there were rocks in the playground was under the monkey bars and yes, my mother did say - walk it off.

See Ya!
