Last week I just couldn't top our night at the theatre and so lots of little things happened and were done between the last musings and now. DD is in London at the moment, both dog sitting and job hunting. I really, really hope she gets something that start asap. Although we all love each other dearly, I think she is loving her independence away from Simcoe and Mom and Step-dad. Here there is not much in the way of public transportation and since she doesn't drive she has to rely on me driving her and I think it bugs her a bit. It wouldn't surprise us at all if she let her job go here and just stayed in London and kept her job hunting and apartment hunting going until she was all settled. I mentioned that hubby and I could easily move her things that are here to her storage locker and then the movers that she would hire could just go there and get it all without a second stop. Well, whatever works out for DD is what we shall do. It has been lovely having her here but I think all of us are use to our own routines and ways so we cannot do this for too much longer.
So, hubby and I enjoyed a quiet Easter together as usual and that included going to Mass and then enjoying a turkey dinner with turkey sandwiches the next day. Easter Monday was the day of my hearing appointment and I was pretty pleased by that. I knew that my hearing wasn't as good as it should be and for once I finally had someone who was actually listening to what I had to say.
She was really good and after checking everything out and several times, yes, I need hearing aids and so we talked together and chose what would work best. Boy, these things have come a long way, there will be an app for them on the phone. I won't need my headphones anymore as the hearing aids can handle that. They can connect to the tv so I can have the volume for me and everyone else can do what is best for them. I am kinda excited by the whole thing. Apparently it will probably tone down the whole shushing sound in my ears too which since that has been going on for 35 years will sure be nice.We did get lots of errands done that we had been putting off which included taking my winter coat in for the buttons to be tightened, with my hands like they are, sewing on buttons is not something I can manage anymore. I needed to deal with more of my mother's tax stuff and get a few other things taken care of.
We didn't vote on the early dates but plan on going on the day which is Monday. Two parties don't have a snowballs chance of winning any seats beyond one or two. One party has a leader that sounds like someone from south of the border the other, well, sounds like the best choice out of all the awful choices there are, so we shall be going with that. You know, that is what I think is pretty sad, it use to be hard to choose because they were good choices to pick from, now it is more like what one will not do the most harm. Any that are pretty good belong to parties that couldn't get elected no matter what was said. Oh well, we do the best we can.
On Thursday while we were cleaning we did a shifting of clothing, putting away the really cold weather stuff and bringing out the warmer weather clothes. It really felt good to get those things sorted and that the weather feels like the shift to mostly warmer is here. Sure it will go up and down but that is what sweatshirts are for - LOL.
So that was the week that was. I think it was perfect that if it was Pope Francis's time to go home Easter Monday was the perfect day after he gave his final blessing, God took him home.
Have a great weekend.
It's always difficult when a child moves back home...for the offspring and the parents. Good luck to DD!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what technology has done for most anything medical. That hearing aides can be controlled with a phone was science fiction not too many years ago.
I consider voting my civic duty and you're correct about the choices. Anymore it seems to be a choice of the lesser of two evils.
I agree with your comment about the Pope's passing. We had the same thought here.
Happy Friday. Wishing you a pleasant weekend. 🤗💖
You too, and thank you for your thoughts and for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
DeleteThanks for sharing your update! It sounds like you've had a busy but productive time, especially with the hearing appointment and getting those errands sorted. Fingers crossed for DD finding the perfect job and getting settled in London. Enjoy the warmer weather and the comfort of those sweatshirts!
ReplyDeleteHave a marvelous weekend! (((BIG HUGS)))
