Weekly Musings of the 2nd

Wow, here we are in May already.  My Bible in a Year study says this is Day 122, so already gone through 122 days of the year.  Mind you, I had a brain stall when someone mentioned that 1975 is 50 years ago!  Wasn't that just yesterday?

So most of this week was without a car.  Poor Sparky had to stay at the garage until someone could get to it.  Busy time of year with everyone switching from snow tires to regular ones.  Monday, we walked over to vote, we and many others tried but the PC party has had a strong foothold here for so very long it isn't moving anytime soon but there was a bit of a push.  Maybe, just maybe a few years down the road they might lose their seat here.  That would be something.

Tuesday was such a windy, rainy day that hubby and I stuck to home.  We just had no desire to head out and pick up my coat from the alterations place.  It was beautiful when I was out for my morning walk but you could see the storm clouds coming in.

Wednesday we walked to the main shopping area downtown and picked up my winter coat.  I had the buttons sewn on tighter.  My hands are not strong enough to do it anymore.  My spring coat will go in when we don't need coats anymore.  I was really glad to see this place open up through last year because I know I am going to need them from time to time.

Heard from DD who will be coming back from London Saturday morning before she has to go to work that day.  Lots and lots of jobs applied for but nothing yet.  Lots of ups and downs during her visit and I think she is looking forward to being back here to take a breath.  Anyway, as I understand it 4 shifts are waiting for her return so that should help keep things busy.

I love seeing the spring flowers on my morning walk.  These Grape Hyacinths always remind me of my grandfather as their home was surrounded by these flowers in the spring.  Papa would tell me the more you picked the flowers the more they would spread and get thicker and stronger.  It must have been so because their's were the most full flower bed of these plants I had ever seen.  Once they were bloomed out the leaves would look like regular grass and get mowed just the same.

The shy little violets in the grass reminds me of the Disney's Alice in Wonderland.

Thursday we heard from our car place and turns out that Sparky is all good to go.  Ended up with yet another battery but it was still covered so we were not charged for it.  All checked out and good to go.  We went right over to the Res. to get hubby's smokes and fill up Sparky.  He ran out of his Res. smokes and had to buy a regular pack at the corner store.  Would you believe - $23.45 for one single pack, for the same amount at the Res.  he can get two cartons.  Plus, 20 cents less for a litre of gas too.  It is only a 20 minute drive really and we go there once a month.  Their smokes has less garbage chemicals in them too.  Hubby doesn't smoke that many anymore but we sure don't want to pay full price either.  Got our needed groceries and I was glad of that.  When I took Sparky in I forgot to take our grocery cart and bags out of it and bring home so it would have been harder to haul all those things home.

Today will be fun, besides doing our usual cleaning of the home, I have my appointment to get my hearing aids.  They set them up based on the tests taken and there will be an app. on my phone to control them.  I won't need headphones anymore because my hearing aids will do that job.  I am sure there will be a getting use to stage but I am looking forward to hearing better.  Apparently it will tone down the shushing in my ears too.  That will sure be a blessing.

Anyway, will let you know how that all goes.

We sure do!  Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. A battery replacement, at no cost, is great. No car for a week, not so much. A blessing that you were able to walk to the shops and to vote. The flowers are gorgeous. We've had so much rain, the flowers are not very pretty here this spring. Wishing you success with the hearing aids.
Happy Friday!! Have a great weekend! 🤗💖

    1. It sure is a learning curve with these things (the hearing aids) but I will make it because I am stubborn - LOL Thanks for stopping by.
