Days of Gratitude - Day 22

I am grateful for how far hearing aids have come.  I remember in my youth people who wore the speaker around their neck and had these huge aids in their ears and how for the most part they still had so much trouble with balancing hearing the spoken word and the noise around them.

Now they have an app for your phone you can focus the aids for where you are from automatic to restaurant.  The phone can be set to only make a sound through the aids and no longer bother anyone around you.  They have chargers now to place them in at night so no more hunting for batteries.  I am grateful for all of this, now they only need to bring down the price of them so everyone can afford them that needs them.

  1. That is a great gratitude thing! All the technological advances that help us when our bodies stop being as keen as once they were. My older sister plays viola in a small symphony orchestra and wears hearing aids that have to be specially adjusted as well as having her "eyes" fine-tuned with glasses that have areas that allow her to read two pages of music and share a stand with a younger player!

Amazing what they can do these days! Electronic "tuners" play havoc with some hearing aids' "smarts".
