Nineteen days after I was born my parents gave me the best gift of my life and for that I will be forever grateful to them no matter what happened through our lives between us. They had me baptized on this day. I didn't know what a blessing and gift it was, nor do I think that they really did but as my life went on I began to see how wonderful a gift it was and for that I am very grateful.

I think faith becomes more precious to us as we mature. The Bible verse I remember was "train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it". That's vernacular, but the importance of learning things when we're young that we can hold onto when life gets rough is clear. Doesn't say we won't wander between "young" and "old", does it?
ReplyDeleteBut even before you were aware, your parents cemented the intention with your baptism. Indeed a gift in more ways than one.
It really does, I think it is because when we look back we see how many times that it must have been God (either Himself or our guardian angel) looking out for us to keep us from really getting hurt. I know I found it shocking how many times I blindly didn't see it until now.
