Not sure how time got sped up but whew, here is another week done. Ran errands first thing this week and then hubby and I went fun shopping and lunch at a favourite restaurant on Tuesday. However, it went a bit downhill after we got home. First was a call from a doctor's office in a nearby city about the arthritis in my hands. That called ended with an appointment in a city I hate driving in and seeing someone I do not trust nor believe. I told them flat out I do not want any prescriptions nor injections, that I have no pain nor bother beyond not being as strong in my hands as I was. They said they want a baseline and my hubby being a worrier wants me to go. Since I have turned 60 I have found that the medical world treats all seniors like we all have dementia or are too dumb to know what is going on. So the whole call which still proved to me that the person talking to me is not listening at all put me in a bit of a grumpy mood. After that fun time I happened to be not wearing my slippers and not looking where I was going.
Yup, I smashed my baby toe against a piece of furniture. Hard enough that I couldn't even swear. After a time I could tell (from past experiences) that I had just badly bruised it and probably didn't break any of the little bones.
Hubby besides waiting on me hand and foot as I nursed my poor left baby toe (it is the one I seem to break the most) worked on his favourite project and put lights in the little houses.
Thursday was hubby's birthday too, he has turned 79. We both wonder how that happened so fast. Weren't we just in our 30s yesterday?
Foot or no foot I was pretty determined to make his most favourite supper and taking it easy still made it just fine.
Hubby loves my lasagna and his favourite cake is just a simple chocolate cake with chocolate icing.
Hold the candles please as we don't want to burn the cake - LOL.
So that was the week mostly me taking it as easy as possible and keeping my foot up and reminding myself that slippers are necessary on my feet as sometimes I don't pay attention to where I am walking.
Well, still enjoying the Canadian Football League but most other stuff - LOL. This one just tickled my funny bone. I remember asking what colour we were cheering for when I was a teen.
Anyway, wishing you all a happy weekend.
Ouch! So sorry to read about the toe. After a collision with a piece of furniture, they seem to stay sore for way too long.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your assessment of specialist. IMHO, they find remedies that don't work and cost a small fortune. Which is why I refuse to go.
I see my doctor once a year for the annual checkup. So far, that's been sufficient.
The town is really coming to life. Will there be residents moving in soon?
The birthday dinner looks scrumptious!
Happy Weekend!! 💖🤗
Thank you, it is slowly getting better but it does have a way of telling me it isn't 100% when I least expect it. I am thinking the same for doctor visits (if it wasn't for hubby's worrying I wouldn't go). LOL - not sure about residents but it sure is looking prettier and prettier. You too my friend!
DeleteLove your "sportsball" meme. My kid sisters are well aware of my propensity to root for both sides...
ReplyDeleteHappy b-day to Robert, a few days late! I'm thinking you did a great job taking care of him, "foot or no foot". And I totally get the "being dismissed for your age" thing! I am lucky in that I've had the same doctor since I first started doctoring (20 years ago), and he's seen me through weight loss, and taking on half-marathons and triathlons, so when I show up, he doesn't give me a hard time about much of ANYTHING! Going and seeing a specialist, however... yikes. And like you, I'm a minimalist when it comes to medical intervention. Let the body heal on its own (except of course when it is obvious it needs a little help).
Wishing you (and your doctor) well in the upcoming visit! And also wishing for a good weekend for you and Robert and Tigger.
Thank you, last specialist I saw when I went in for a pulled muscle tested me for heart for hours and then said he couldn't find anything and was sending me home. When I asked about the pulled muscle he just mumbled - take some Tylenol and walked away. That was the last time I put my faith in the profession. He says thank you and yes he loved his dinner. You too and Ember my friend!
DeleteIt sounds like you had a whirlwind of a week, filled with both fun moments and a few unexpected bumps in the road. It's great that you and your husband got to enjoy some time together, with a bit of "fun shopping" and a favorite lunch spot.
ReplyDeleteIt's completely understandable to be frustrated by that doctor's office call. It's tough when you feel like you're not being heard, especially about your own body. And a stubborn, sore toe on top of that? Ouch! I'm glad to hear it was just bruised and that your husband was there to wait on you.
Speaking of your husband, what a sweet way to celebrate his 79th birthday! A homemade lasagna and a favorite chocolate cake are the perfect way to make someone feel special. It's true what you said—it feels like we were just in our 30s yesterday, doesn't it?
Here's to a more relaxing week ahead, and a big cheer for your favorite football team!(((BIG HUGS)))
It was a lot of fun this week. He really does love homemade best, me, I like dinner out. Unfortunately our team, the Ottawa RedBlacks lost this week to the disliked Bluebombers but we are still hopeful they will keep getting better.
