Happy Birthday Weekly Musings and Days of Gratitude - Day 13

So this is what I am grateful for - another trip around the sun.  I am 68 today and I am so thankful for the many blessings that came to me this year.  I didn't deserve any of them but was blest nonetheless and so Happy Birthday to me.

Our plans for today including going to the Beach House for one of their amazing desserts (I hope they have the one I really want)  I never have room for them when we go to dinner so as my birthday wish, hubby and I are going enjoy a Spanish Coffee and for me a Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake.

And now for what we got up to this week.  Monday was my appointment with a Rheumatologist.  First off I have to say the trip to that city was lovely but once in the city, well, it has gone downhill so badly that it is scary to drive in.  You know that most cities have a bad part of town that you would be scared to drive at night in?  Well, this city is the whole city.  As Bilbo says of Mirkwood - it feels sick.  The worst of it is around the hospital and my appointment was across the street.  Then it got worse, I didn't like the doctor at all, he really didn't do or say much although I kept saying I have no pain nor do I want any treatment at this time, he kept talking about treatments setting me up with a battery of tests that I feel should have been set up before I even came to see him but this way he can bill for two appointments instead of one.  I tried to tell the receptionist that I would not be back

but she made an appointment for me anyway and when I tried to cancel it when she called the next day waking me up before 7:30 in the blessed AM she refused and booked another appointment.

After a great deal of thought through the night after the appointment I have decided I am not going for any tests but am going to see a Naturopathic doctor that is in town.  Arthritis isn't something that is cured but something you learn to deal with and a Naturopathic doctor can help one do that.  I am tired of regular doctors who don't listen and then throw tests and prescriptions at you without even knowing who you are.  A Naturopathic doctor's first appointment is two hours long getting to know you first.  I miss that with mainstream doctors of today.

Of course with that decision made I tried to cancel my appointment again but once more she would not listen nor would she cancel it.  Guess I will wait till closer to next July and try again.

The rest of the week was spent quietly, I think the whole trip to that city drains one completely.  It has gotten worse even since we moved here.   So spent the week reading a lot after getting back into the local library's on-line system - Libby.  I am not super regular about going to the library but am getting back into it especially as I wait for the bank to send me a card now that my old one was cancelled due to fraud on some hackers part.  That became another blessing as I didn't realize how often I use my card without really thinking about it, since I don't have one (although hubby does) I pause a lot more about going shopping or using his.  What a surprise that was.

Still managed my morning walks, some mornings first thing in the dark and others when the sun is shining bright a little later in the morning.  So now I am off to enjoy my birthday.
