Weekly Musings of the 23rd

Isn't that the truth?  Just like that Friday is here again and we are galloping to the end of the first month of the year.   This week was our 37th anniversary of our life together.  We stayed home this day as it was cold and snowy as it actually was our first night together.  I made the same meal this day as I did back then of lasagna and then coconut cream pie, both of hubby's favourite.  Yes, he fell in love with me but I think my cooking kinda sealed the deal - LOL.

He arrived the night of the 20th with all he had in the back seat of his car and quietly asked me, "Can I stay with you?"  And I threw open the door and helped him bring in what little he had and we have been together ever since.  We have lived in four apartments together.  That first night was on Riverside Drive at the corner of Bank Street.  Our second was the Island Park Towers at the corner of Island Park and the Parkway.  Our last one in Ottawa was in the upstairs apartment at his mother's on Rochester Street and now we are in Simcoe on Cedar Street.  So many things have come and gone as hubby and I have gotten older together.  Sometimes we might miss those days when we were younger and perhaps would appreciate them all the more now knowing that age does take over the body.  You can help it by taking good care of it but still it will age and there are things that happen that no matter how good the care is, there is change.

This picture was taken the summer of our first year together.  We went to Quebec City together.

Lots of reminiscing this week as I kept telling myself that it has been 37 years.  I couldn't believe that so many years have past so fast.

Today the sun is shining but it is cold out there and this week has been quiet as we only went out as we really needed with the snow squalls that had been happening day after day it was just an good idea to stay and putter at home.

Before this was on Pinterest my hubby said it to me, really and truly.

 Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Happy Anniversary week to the two of you. I love a good love story! And funny thing, they all involve just what you said. Congratulations on the years of compromise and mutual caring, and the joy that it continues to bring you.

    1. Thank you so much! They sure do, I chuckle over one of my compromises which is watching the news or at least having it on. Hubby can't seem to miss the nightly news and I could care less about it. I have gotten to read during it for the most part - LOL. Huge hugs.

  2. Happy Anniversary to the two of you! May you have many more to celebrate together. There is something so incredibly romantic about hunkering down in the snow and recreating that very first meal—though let’s be honest, if you’re serving up homemade lasagna and coconut cream pie, I think any sensible man would have asked to stay forever! You definitely knew the way to his heart was through his stomach, and clearly, it’s a recipe that has stood the test of time.

It is so touching to hear about that moment he showed up with his life in his backseat; it’s like something straight out of a classic movie. That photo from Quebec City is such a treasure—you can really see the start of the adventure in your eyes. Stay warm, keep puttering, and here’s to many more years of "sealing the deal" with great food and even better company! (((BIG HUGS)))

Weekly Musings of the 7th

Okay it is Saturday instead of Friday and I could say some really great sounding reasons why I postponed my blog a day but that would not ...
