Weekly Musings of the 30th

Because it is too darn cold to go out there so curling up with a good book and warm blankets and that is good enough.

Although early in the week we did go out for errands and that included the trip for hubby's smokes.  We topped up the car although it didn't need a full tank because who is driving far when you don't have to.

Kinda the point of retiring from having to be someplace.  I do love heading out and doing stuff but probably from spring to the end of fall is when you can get me out there.  Winter is my hibernation time and if I do get up to stuff it is going through things and purging what is not needed and I feel that urge coming on.  I see things in cupboards and know that we are not going to use them anymore so what is the point of them taking up space.  If it is too good to toss then they will be donated as always.  Someone else could use them more than them sitting in my cupboards.

I have never been one to hang onto stuff just for the sake of keeping them but that point really got driven home when I had to go through mom's stuff, so much junk that could have been tossed or given away no longer used.  Closets filled with papers and decorations that were no good anymore to be tossed.  I was happy that there was help to donate the furniture and clothes but just the rest of the stuff, nearly 2 tons of it tossed.  Every time I think of the work I want to go through my cupboards to make sure there is nothing kept for no reason.  Anyway, enough of that - LOL, I just know a full cupboard tidy is coming soon.

So keep warm my friends and have a lovely weekend.

  1. Just getting around to reading and it is already Sunday! Love the meme at the end... LOL! It's been cold here, too. Saturday especially. Then today it decided to deal us a high of 47F! Go figure, huh!

Downsizing and getting rid of stuff is a HUGE amount of "decisions to be made" which is probably why I am so bad at it!

    1. LOL, I am sure you do what works best for you. Me? When I can't find something I am looking for, that is when it hits. Right now I can't find a favourite blanket that my oldest gave me and I don't want to ask her if she borrowed it when she moved until I am sure I checked every container and basket. It keeps me going - LOL

  2. Stay warm under those blankets! There is absolutely no shame in being a professional hibernator when the air hurts your face. Retiring really is the ultimate "get out of jail free" card for avoiding the cold, and honestly, topping off the tank just to be safe is much better than a frantic mid-blizzard run later!

Your "purge" energy is honestly inspiring, though I suspect the cupboards are shaking in their boots right now. After dealing with two tons of family clutter, you’ve definitely earned the right to live lean and mean. Enjoy the quiet, the books, and the satisfaction of knowing exactly what’s in every corner of your home—at least until spring lures you back out! (((BIG HUGS)))

    1. Well, thank you. I am sure they are, as I said above when I can't find something where I think it might be then the purge urge hits and I get going at least until I get my hands on what is missing. I do take more breaks in between than I use to though.
