A Few More Musings with Photos on the 26th

I realized that after posting yesterday's musings by the end of the day.  I had a few more - LOL.

Spring is starting to show with blossoms beginning on the trees on my morning walk. I saw beginning of growth that shows we are well on our way to warm weather.

Ducks and Geese are everywhere, stopping people on their morning commute just taking their time crossing one road or another and then going back again.  They will not rush for anyone.

The streams are high but walking across bridges no longer give the surprise of being icy due to the chill in the water.

Hidden gems of flowers enjoying the spring time sun and quickly will disappear until next year.

Now this guy is not native to our area but seems to be popping up here more and more.  The Yucca plant can grow in this area pretty well but they were brought here and didn't start here.

They have cleared a better path to the Poor House Cemetery although the path probably walks over graves that will not be known.  Many were buried from the Poor House but few markers remained and many didn't have one.  The markers they found were put together at the end of the path.

There was a little one saying good morning as I walked along.

Walking back I noticed that besides the yellow marsh flowers there were the beginning of Skunk Cabbages growing in the muck below.

After I posted yesterdays blog I went down to see if the car would start because I saw the beginning of a problem when we were driving around on Wednesday.  The signal clicker was not making a sound when used.  I knew that it meant there was a battery problem starting.  Sure enough Friday morning the car was dead.  You couldn't even use the key fob to open the door.  So, a call to CAA brought the guy to give Sparky a boost.  Once the car was going I drove right over to the dealer to put it in for repairs.  This could take awhile as they find out if it is yet another battery that died or if there is another underlying problem causing all of this.  We had scheduled an appointment to get the snow tires off so that might get done at the same time, we shall see.  Either way, the car will be gone for at least a few days if not a week.  Good thing that most things we need to do this week can be walked to.

We can walk to church, the place to vote, get my hearing aids and pick up items we might need in groceries.  Only thing is that our little cart is in the car so we can't use it when doing walking shopping trips but guess we shall work around that and hopefully the car will not be gone too long.

I think Tigger is saying - Don't sweat it, just take a nap instead. - LOL

So have a great Saturday!

Weekly Musings of the 25th

Last week I just couldn't top our night at the theatre and so lots of little things happened and were done between the last musings and now.  DD is in London at the moment, both dog sitting and job hunting.  I really, really hope she gets something that start asap.  Although we all love each other dearly, I think she is loving her independence away from Simcoe and Mom and Step-dad.  Here there is not much in the way of public transportation and since she doesn't drive she has to rely on me driving her and I think it bugs her a bit.  It wouldn't surprise us at all if she let her job go here and just stayed in London and kept her job hunting and apartment hunting going until she was all settled.  I mentioned that hubby and I could easily move her things that are here to her storage locker and then the movers that she would hire could just go there and get it all without a second stop.  Well, whatever works out for DD is what we shall do.  It has been lovely having her here but I think all of us are use to our own routines and ways so we cannot do this for too much longer.

So, hubby and I enjoyed a quiet Easter together as usual and that included going to Mass and then enjoying a turkey dinner with turkey sandwiches the next day.  Easter Monday was the day of my hearing appointment and I was pretty pleased by that.  I knew that my hearing wasn't as good as it should be and for once I finally had someone who was actually listening to what I had to say.

She was really good and after checking everything out and several times, yes, I need hearing aids and so we talked together and chose what would work best.  Boy, these things have come a long way, there will be an app for them on the phone.  I won't need my headphones anymore as the hearing aids can handle that.  They can connect to the tv so I can have the volume for me and everyone else can do what is best for them.  I am kinda excited by the whole thing.  Apparently it will probably tone down the whole shushing sound in my ears too which since that has been going on for 35 years will sure be nice.

We did get lots of errands done that we had been putting off which included taking my winter coat in for the buttons to be tightened, with my hands like they are, sewing on buttons is not something I can manage anymore.  I needed to  deal with more of my mother's tax stuff and get a few other things taken care of.

We didn't vote on the early dates but plan on going on the day which is Monday.  Two parties don't have a snowballs chance of winning any seats beyond one or two.  One party has a leader that sounds like someone from south of the border the other, well, sounds like the best choice out of all the awful choices there are, so we shall be going with that.  You know, that is what I think is pretty sad, it use to be hard to choose because they were good choices to pick from, now it is more like what one will not do the most harm.  Any that are pretty good belong to parties that couldn't get elected no matter what was said.  Oh well, we do the best we can.

On Thursday while we were cleaning we did a shifting of clothing, putting away the really cold weather stuff and bringing out the warmer weather clothes.  It really felt good to get those things sorted and that the weather feels like the shift to mostly warmer is here.  Sure it will go up and down but that is what sweatshirts are for - LOL.

So that was the week that was.  I think it was perfect that if it was Pope Francis's time to go home Easter Monday was the perfect day after he gave his final blessing, God took him home.

Have a great weekend.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder

At Hubby's favourite store there is a favourite employee who told him that he was in a Lighthouse Theatre production called 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder'.  Hubby came home and said we should go.

When we use to go with my mother, she always wanted to front row at the stage which after 2 and a half hours looking up my neck was pretty sore.  I chose the seat that I had always wanted, the balcony front row where you can see everything.

From the website - 'A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder is Lighthouse Festival’s 2025 Community Show! It’s like a delightfully twisted game of Clue, but instead of figuring out who the murderer is, you’re cheering them on! Set in Edwardian England, this witty musical comedy centres around Monty Navarro, a penniless chap who discovers he’s ninth in line to inherit a posh title and a fortune. Of course, there’s a small hiccup – eight family members stand in his way. So, what’s an ambitious fellow to do? Well, murder, obviously, but in the most charming, creative, and downright hilarious ways possible!

Monty’s problem-solving techniques are less “whodunit” and more “whodone-it-again,” as he systematically (but oh-so-politely) bumps off his distant relatives, all while keeping his love life as complicated as humanly possible. He’s juggling two women: Sibella, who’s more interested in status than love, and Phoebe, who’s pure-hearted and ready to make Monty her own gentleman. But love, murder, and climbing the social ladder don’t mix easily – especially when they’re happening all at once!

Throw in the fact that we’ve got a host of incredibly versatile actors playing eight doomed family members, from the doddering old Lord to the slightly-too-eccentric Lady, and you’ve got a recipe for non-stop laughs, tasteful (and tasteless) music, with plenty of sharp wit and slapstick to boot.

Perfect for fans of dark humour, quirky characters, and murderously good fun, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder proves that in the race for wealth and love, sometimes you have to get your hands a little dirty – while keeping your manners impeccable, of course!'

Hubby's buddy is the lower left portrait on display.  We took it in last night and the seats were perfect.  This is where I shall choose if we attend any other shows at this theatre.  The show was fun and a great treat.  The songs really made it even better.  Hubby and I had a great time and really enjoyed every moment.

The two ladies that played Sibella and Phoebe really had wonderful singing voices and were a real treat to listen to.  By the end of the show, my neck wasn't sore at all, thank goodness, as well I managed driving in the dark pretty good for an old girl.

What a great show!

Weekly Musings of the 11th

Hubby and Tigger are searching for her toys under the TV unit.  She always comes over and carefully watches as you pull everything out for her to play with again.

Was a fairly busy week with a dentist appointment for me to get to and driving DD to her job this week.  On the 21st she is going to London to house sit and job hunt as well as apartment hunt although the job must come first.  She is taking her kitty and they are staying about 10 days.  I really am keeping my fingers crossed that the job hunt works out really well because of course here in our little town there is not much going on when it comes to jobs.  At least, not full time.

Sunday was the 5th Sunday in Lent where the focus is on Joy and the colour changes from purple to rose.  When I see that I always think of this cartoon.

It always makes me smile.

I did finally make an appointment to have my hearing checked.  I have been putting it off but finally felt it was time to deal with it all.  After all I think helping yourself to hear is more a great help for those you love than for yourself.  Yourself can pretend it isn't a big deal or that it doesn't bother you so much but your loved ones are not sure if you are hearing them or if you need the TV that loud.  It will be on the 21st and we shall see where I stand and what can be done.  Bet a lot more than I think can be done because these things have improved so much since the early days.

Weather has been a combo week but the morning walks were great except Monday when there was snow and ice on the ground.  I won't walk on that but then again a missed day here and there is not a big deal.

Ah, Spring in Ontario.

Have a great week!

Weekly Musings of the 4th

Well, this took a bit longer because as I looked for an April picture in my folders I found some funny ones too and ended up driving hubby and DD nuts with saying... oh, just one more as they were trying to get their coffees.  LOL, well I can't help wanting to share laugh.  Which I will do here too, of course.

Here we are in April and of course the beginning of it had snow, freezing rain and rain.  Here in our little pocket of Simcoe, we had the snow and freezing rain for less than 30 minutes and then it was rain and before I had to go pick up DD from work any ice that might have been on the ground was gone.  Morning walks were still good as it was never raining at that time of the morning.

And DD the 1st has decided that she is moving back to London and she is hoping before her birthday (June) because although she likes Simcoe well enough and her job here (although it is only part time) she needs the city.  Public transportation for someone who doesn't drive is a necessity as well there really are not a lot of jobs available in a smaller town.  I mean I do drive her wherever she wishes to go but seriously who wants their mother driving them when they are in their 40s.  We get that and are keeping our fingers crossed for a great full time job and nice apartment coming through as quickly as possible.

I think that although we are all fine being together all of us would like our old routines back.

Moms that are over 60 too, for the message on the right - LOL

Anywho, I have been driving Herself halfway to London and her friend picks her up for the rest of the trip, for which I am very grateful as the full drive to London is not a favourite thing to do.

Now I better get a move on because I will be driving Herself shortly to that halfway point.

Have a great day and weekend.

Almost time for garage sales as people are trying to purge stuff once more.  I am not a garage sale kind of person, but I do love a good purge - LOL.

Weekly Musings of the 20th

Good Friday morning to our friends and family.  This flag was a Father's Day gift to hubby from DD the 2nd and since we live in Ti-Cat n...
